MOR

Mission: Eliminate the snow A.K.A that white stuff.
Objective: Eliminate the snow A.K.A that white stuff.
Reward: No snow A.K.A that white stuff.

This is called MOR. Mission, Objective, and Reward. For most people these days, it's all about snow. Get rid of it. Now. Well, let me apply MOR to something else. Today I decided to come up with a formula for quick weight measuring. Now there are already plenty of these in today's world, but I had never developed one and had never seen one. So I was measuring weight the hard way. And I wanted to be able to convert tons into ounces easily. So I did a little math and figured out that every ton equals 32,000 ounces.
Mission: Develop a weight formula.
Objective: Develop a weight formula.
Reward: Quick weight measuring and converting that uses tons and ounces.
Notice that Mission and Objective must be the same. So you may be wondering, "Wait. Why doesn't he just say MR?" The answer is simple: there is no correct way to say MR. So MOR just works better.

Now. You may also be saying, "Lecture time kiddies! Let's go home before the scary lecture guy bores us!" Please don't say that. I just want to say that MOR can be applied to anything.

Mission: Invent a hovercar.
Objective: Invent a hovercar.
Reward: $$

Mission: Figure out how the world became like this.
Objective: Learn about creation.
Reward: Salvation

That's one of the very extremely rare things you can apply MOR to where Mission and Objective are NOT the same.

Blog Change

NO.

I am not creating another blog to replace this one. After all this time, I would not do that. Just letting all the people of the world know I changed how my blog looks. That little black bar at the left of the screen when you are on my main page is not a bad virus your precious phone has. It just shows how to follow me by email and to see the Things I Like bar and translation and stuff. If for some alien reason you do not like it just write in the comments and I will change it. Thanks.

P.S. Can someone tell that Bruce Baker dude that I am not sure what his name is? Thanks guys.

C.A.K.E.

Cake is something that I call cake. Yep. Believe it or not. I call cake cake. Now don't get the wrong idea here people: I am completely normal. Wait. Was that the wrong idea or the right idea I just stated? Probably the wrong idea. Let's try this again.

Cake is something that I call cake. Yep. Believe it or not. I call cake cake. Now people, don't get the idea that I am not normal. At least, that's what most people would think. "Oh wow, he calls cake cake. He ain't normal." But really. I am totally normal. You might think otherwise because most people (Yep, even you Papa Baker!) call cake C.A.K.E. Now don't get fussy or criticizing. I know that cake and C.A.K.E. have a very very very very slight similarity, but they are NOT THE SAME. You see, cake means yummy bread that tastes like chocolate or carrot or whatever you want it to. Frosting is optional. But C.A.K.E., well that is a whole different thing. It means Cupcakes And Kibbles Etc.

See the difference now? The whole time, over all these years of good food inventing, we were saying the wrong thing. Good thing I found a solution. Silly people we are. Man we are weird. Why in the world would we call cake C.A.K.E.?

A Puzzle

Well I didn't like how the other font looked so I'm going back to the old one. Anyway this blog will be a puzzle so I will type some sentences and you can see if you can find out what is wrong with them, or I will do a pattern with how I am typing it.

This one will be quite easy for you to figure out, and I really mean it too. Hopefully you notice something is wrong.

Thiis oone wiill bee eaasy tooo.

P.S. you might want to type your answerz in the comment boks.

insIde a houSe thErE was a Yucky Octagon with a pUppy. P.S. There's more than one sentence there!

P.S. The P.S. right before this one (and this one) are not puzzles.

Well, I hope you figured all that out. Now for a riddle that I won't let you cheat on by watching The Hobbit. Remember when I mentioned Bilbo Baggins? He spoke a wonderful riddle that is so hard to answer correctly even my dad won't remember it! (Or will he?)

Thirty white horses on a red hill,
First they champ,
Then they stamp,
Then they stand still.

What's the answer? Here's a hint: It is not outside, and just imagine it happening. It's also not inside.

You Got Courage?

"I feel stretched, Gandalf, like butter over too much bread." -Bilbo Baggins, first hobbit to possess the One Ring

"Remember to give glory to the One who authored nature." -Robert Boyle, founder of modern chemistry

"...one is completely stunned by the resourcefulness of the creator." -Carolus Linnaeus, the man who tried to classify all living things

Which character didn't have a brain? The scarecrow. Which character didn't have a heart? The tin man.

Which character didn't have Courage?

Not only does the answer of that question apply to a lion with an extremely human face, it can mean everyone. Most people these days don't have a lot of courage. They like it when other people take the lead. When other people are brave enough to sacrifice things, or even themselves so other people can be safe or happy. The sayings above made by those people (though one never really existed physically) are totally, well, not courageous. But it doesn't matter what they said that made them courageous, but who they were and what they did. All three of those people needed a lot of courage to do what they did. Would you be willing to play a game with an insane creature in the dark that gives you a 50/50 chance of life or death? So you could be able to help other people be happy? Would you be willing to spend most of your life experimenting with chemistry to help the world advance after you died? Or write many books just classifying things that live for a very long time? Just some things to think about.

Summer Recap Part 2

After Boys Camp, we went home for two weeks before Family Camp. One weekend we went up to Livonia to pick up Daisy (she had been staying with Grammy and Papa Don while we were at camp). We played lots of card games there and visited Greenfield Village for the last time of the summer. When we went home, it was nice to be back for a while. We relaxed that week before heading right back up to UPBC. We saw lots of friends there, went to nice scenic places and I even participated in the talent show for the first time to do magic tricks. There were campfires every night and I ate lots of ice cream.

After Family Camp, we went home for the remaining weeks until school started. This would be Ryan's freshman year in high school, my 7th grade year and Megan's 5th grade year. Summer was fun and we made many memories.

Summer Recap Part 1

Well, last time I posted was at the beginning of summer. Now it is over. The last blog said we put in the boat lifts at Fish Lake. This blog says we took them out yesterday. This blog also states that there will be two parts to my summer recap, and this is part 1.

After the last blog post, it was about a month of summer vacation at home. Then I went to UPBC for Adventure 13, and at the same time Mom and Megan went up with a few friends for Girls Camp. Adventure 13 was very fun and tiring and included hiking, mountain biking, and seeing sights that were very cool. I lost my retainer that Wednesday and still am waiting for a new one. One or two kids went to the hospital for injuries that included a badly sprained ankle and a nearly dislocated knee. After Adventure 13 I went straight into my last week of going to Boys Camp. I decided to do riflery and challenge course activities. We did CTF almost every day and on Wednesday we prepared for the day away. Most of the cabins went on the hiking trip (A.K.A the trip that is barely a mile of hiking) but my cabin canoed against the waves across Lake Au Train and then spent another four hours canoeing down Au Train river. Along the way a friend of mine stole my giant cookie i was slowly eating as my only food until 8:00 PM. Dinner was okay, but I cracked a frozen hot dog before I could cook it. The message from our speaker every day was very good, and it kept me awake during chapel.

First two weeks of summer

Well, I went to Fish Lake a bit ago with the Seals and Grandma and Papa Baker. It was a lot of work! We put in the boat lifts, the boats, and a lot of other stuff. We got ice cream too. (Sorry, I don't expect this blog to be too long, it is my first one in a while.) Anyway, it was a lot of fun too. On Thursday, Grammy and Papa Don came over to visit. Papa, Ryan, Mom, and I went for a bike ride later. We went to DQ (Hmm... a two-consonant restaurant...) and got a snack. Grammy and Megan stayed home and watched a movie. (Let it go!) Yesterday, they went with Mom to a store and got some pop. But Megan got the good stuff! (No free advertising allowed)While Ryan and I got Buffalo wing and cookie dough flavored pop, she got (Nope. Can't sa-WOULD YOU GET OUT OF HERE YOU BLOG INTRUDER?!) Coke. Good old Coke pop. I don't know, but the picture thing isn't working.

What to Blog About?

Once upon a time, in the United States of America, there was a boy called Cavan (he liked all sorts of things, including blogging about himself, read about this on front page of blog). Anyway, he blogged. And sometimes he forgot to for a month or two. Imagine you are on a helicopter and are soaring through gigantic letters. Then you look back and see it spells his name. And you think, "what has this got to do with the blog I am reading?"

It has nothing to do with it. Just like basset hounds are not in any way related to parrots except for the fact they are animals. Anyway, words like flibbajibba and frindle and even my name don't register as words and they have that annoying red line underneath them. What if you broke into a world of imagination and you could fix words the way you wanted them to be? Would you change it at all? Or would you sit around and do nothing? I would change many words to easier spellings. Like "trash" to "chrash".

And then you are soaring along again, and you say, "what is the point of all this?"

I don't know myself. As there are not many important things going on, like a trip to Mexico or something like that. Blogging is just harder and harder. I almost want to stop blogging until July.
Well, if this seems like a worthwhile blog to you, thanks.

Ways We Say Things

Sorry I have not blogged in a while. Anyway, for this whole blog post, I will be typing "rilly" instead of "really" because people like to say it like "rilly" because it is easier.

Kind of like my other blog, Words&Numbers, this one will talk about how we don't usually think much about words. Would you understand a person well if they rilly emphasized the "n" in the words "think" and "thing"? Or if they said the "y" in "they"? Of course, the English language was not made like that. But would you criticize them, or say "What?" because it sounded like "they-ya"? Here is a phrase with some words different:

Ide rilly like too ride on u roller coastr.

Do not read the next sentence until you have read the phrase above.
Did you understand that phrase? It was supposed to say "I'd really like to ride on a roller coaster." However, people like to say "a" like "uh" because it is easier and faster. Does that sound like a character trait all people have? It's called laziness. Not laziness like sitting around the couch all day and eating chips and watching television. But word laziness. Now, it rilly is not a bad thing, but you would be so much more understandable if you said it correctly.

Most people (actually, almost all who speak English) say the "e" in the word "red". (Oh, and please try and say "the" with the "e" sounding like "E" and not "uh".) But, what if you took the way that "e" sounds in "red" and used that sound in the word "her"? It would sound pretty weird, right? Well, try experimenting with it. As something to do.

Thanks! I hope you all rilly liked this blog!

Flappy Bird-Is It Dangerous?

There's this new (kind of new) game called Flappy Bird. It happens to be very popular amongst most people now, especially kids in elementary-high school grades. It is very frustrating and hard to get a very high score on. People have written reviews on it and mostly bad thoughts about it. Yet the people play it all the time and call it addicting. Because they feel a need to constantly get a higher score. I have to admit even I play it sometimes, but it's not addicting to me. Kids brag about their over 200 score, while parents and grandparents just talk about it.

What if this.........game is stealing kids' education? Keeping them from homework or from things that help the human brain, which I wrote about in my last blog? I may be a kid still, but because I'm a kid, wouldn't I know more about kids' education getting taken away than the average parent? Even though I'm homeschooled. Because I have friends (I won't name names) that go to schools. In fact, maybe, just maybe, I would know more than them, because I have my phone next to me while I'm doing my schoolwork, and sometimes I am tempted to go on it and play games.

Why? Almost every kid is tempted to do the same. Because they're addicting. Flappy Bird is not a good game in my opinion. I should just delete it. I hope no one is offended or mad at me for posting this blog. I just want to say my thoughts about this newly popular game so that people might think that even a game as harmless-looking as it is, it could be educationally dangerous. And possibly even mentally dangerous.

Words&Numbers

Do you ever think about, well, words in general? How they can be of great use to find brain games with them? For example, try splitting them into their syllables and mixing them to create unique words. Or take two different sounds in a word, and flip them. Like E and A sounds. We could even reverse the sounds in "sounds" to make "zounds". Do you ever think about how the American words sometimes replace certain letter sounds with different letter sounds? A lot of times, we say the z sound instead of the s sound. Even though the letter is an s. These are the kind of brain games I play with myself every day. We could change lots of s sounds into z sounds. Like "myzelf" instead of "myself".

Only today did I realize how useful words (wordz) can be. Some people might not care about playing games (gamez) with words. In your head, not Words with Friends. Some people (peopul) might think it is silly. But I dont. I think a lot of people could use their brains (brainz) a little more. Plus, these kinds of games can help pass time. "Subtraction", for instance, could be "subchracshin". "Addition" could even be something like "udishin". Numbers, too, can be used thoughtfully to play games. But there has to be something, like a story, that has a certain number in it a lot to connect to your "base number", as I call it. Like 5 people who know 23 parks to go to that give free donuts. 2+3=5, and 2 is 3 before 5, 5 is 8 before 13, and 13 is 10 before 3. It's like a kind of cycle. I am sorry if I am boring you, but I kind of needed to share my thoughts.

I also realized that numbers are more fun and, well, helpful in a way than I thought they were.

Fish Lake, Winter 2014

On Friday, the Seals, my family, and Grandma and Papa Baker came up to Fish Lake for a few days. Our sledding record was 226 feet 2 inches far out. It was broken today by Megan and Kelsey. We celebrated Uncle Earl's 43rd birthday. Daisy also turned four. We sledded a lot and Taylor and Megan shoveled an ice rink out. We went tithe movie theater and saw Jack Ryan. All the girls watched Frozen. Grandma's breakfasts have been really good.

My January and December Swim Meets

100-yard freestyle. 50-yard breaststroke. 50-yard backstroke. 100-yard butterfly. 400-yard freestyle relay. Man, that was long and hard! It took a while to get to West Chicago for that meet. I waited a very long time in between races to just do one race. I won my 50 breaststroke, even though my goggles fell off. They also fell off on my 100 freestyle. I got second on my 50 backstroke, but second-to-last on my 100 freestyle. I don't really know what place I got on my 100 butterfly. On the relay, three other boys and I got last. Still better than the relay at the last meet.

Last meet was at the Centre of Elgin. I'm pretty sure I did a 50 freestyle, (which I happily won) and a 100 breaststroke. (Which I happily got second on). I also did a relay, which we lost.

Papa Baker and Aunt Tara wanted this blog post really bad. Thanks for the hint, hints.
